The distortion of perspective on the stairs symbolizes the movement of dimensions.

Do you remember the Onomatopoeia scene in the second page ?

mugi_p02_ED2_Gunya.jpg

So far, we were in the fantasy world of Mugi-san.
In a way, this stairway is the metaphorical pathway between this world and the other world.

From now on, we will return to the real world together with Mugi-san.

Japanese people visit shrines and pray at temples at the same time. God and Buddha are mixed.

In spite of this all, anyway the Japanese believe something.

Some people say that there is no religion in Japan.

Japan’s medieval period was plagued by war.

The constant fear of death made people see life as a temporary illusion.

This kind of Buddhist philosophy is reflected in several Japanese artworks and literatures in this nation.

The name alone evokes modernity: AI Robot, Genetic engineering,Quantum physics… You might remember Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner (1982)

The ancient civilization, with its Shinto priests and fragile poems, is more closely associated with all that is new in our times than any place on earth.

Shinto in Japan differs from other major religions in that it has no central figure of worship nor any scriptures.

But the Japanese people admire some icons or legends or Folklores.

 Marianismo is one of them.

Face-Sitting is intangible.

Even if you are about to experience, or already you have experienced,

it is a spiritual sanctuary..

It doesn't exist as a photograph, but there is a scene that is burned into our eyes like a photograph.

The eye is a metaphor for a camera lens, a picture of the mind printed on photographic paper of the brain.

  Namio's paintings are like that.

What makes a woman smoking a cigarette attractive?

As a non-smoker I have been thinking about this issue for many years.

My blog friends have posted a lot about this. (スタート3)

One of the reason I guess, Mistress who are smoking shows us unique face.

Very distinctive manner and facial expression what is known as "smug face" or troll face.

In Japanese we say Do-Ya Face (ドヤ顔)

For example, something like this.
美咲女王様のドヤ顔
Ikebukuro CLUB PERVS Mistress Misaki *previously

Although she is not smoking here in this photo, looks Dignified, anything more elegant.

Besides, her face reminds me Mr.Harukawa's depiction of his drawings.

In the days of Namio Harukawa's illustrations, there was no word for "passive smoking." When I was a kid, smoking was done naturally in the movie theater, on the train, anywhere in public. However, most of them smoking were men.

Before the Equal Employment Opportunity Law came into effect, women's social advancement was delayed in Japan.

Therefore, it was rare to see female smokers at work or in taverns.

Even though I don't smok, the appearance of a woman smoking a cigarette feels sexy by itself, and it may have been the pleasure of watching a taboo.

Because traditionally there was a convention and sort of prejudice that Japanese women should be modest. It was almost impossible for Japanese women to smoke in public.

At the first footage in this page, there is a child who is peeking in the gallery.

Alright it's not PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested for Children Under 13)

This depiction is also familiar with us in some other Mr.Harukawa's pieces....

他者の視線

Most of the time the boy with bobbed hair would witness the Fem-Dom session going on there.

Perhaps the boy may be Mr.Harukawa himself used to be...

The_gaze_202111041721516a3.jpg

Long time ago, I once asked Mr.Harukawa a silly question.

I wonder why you put a boy there as witness in the first place ?

In spite of my rude question, he answered politely this way :

Because I wanted to make you think it's fascinating.

You can assimilate the thought of the boy.

You can engage with the mirage of fantasy in a way that is unforgettable through the eyes of the boy.

In other word I guess Mr.Harukawa tried to blur the boundary between art and reality, creating the sense of a three-dimensional picture as if we can also walk into.

His intentional and meticulous juxtaposition creates illusion of other world of Fem-Dom effectively.

目撃者の少年

And mugi-san also admired this concept, depicting some kind of illusion theater or narrative scene through the eyes of the boy at gallery. IMHO...

Looking back on my daily personal memories when I was kid, even now I still feel like I'm staring at anything with a pure boyish sight line.
