Secret Lives of the Artist



　　In 1957 the English art historian John While published a book, which has gained a certain fame, under the arresting title “Birth and Rebirth of Pictorial Space.”

Its basic idea was that pictorial space had been born in antiquity and reborn more than a millennium later in the Iberian Peninsula

This rebirth being fully archived in the days of the Renaissance with the elaboration of artificial perspective.

　　If we follow this historical argument with some ironic exaggeration, we must assume that between its birth and its rebirth pictorial space must have died.


　 In terms of FaceSitting Pictorial Space, Namio Harukawa is the first artist who created this artificial perspective.
